Spring means new life, especially at the Mann Valley Farm, which is owned and operated by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Located northwest of the city, the 475-acre farm is comprised of dairy, beef, sheep, swine, cropping, feed processing, and other enterprises. The farm also has a dairy learning center with indoor classrooms, a milking center, and a pavilion for livestock shows and sales.
Since a number of our Among Friends participants are very familiar with farming–having grown up on farms or operated farms themselves, we thought a field trip to Mann Valley would be just the right thing. And we were right. Our tour guide and university employee, Jason, made appropriate accommodations for our group–and they had a great time meeting the new lambs and riding around the farm. We might have to visit them again soon!
