When we realized how much horses had meant to a couple of our participants, staff member Norma Revels knew just what to do. Norma had recently been trained to be a volunteer at Walk On, a therapeutic riding program right here in River Falls. After speaking with Director Ken Giske, both agreed that a visit to the farm would be perfect for Among Friends participants Galen and David.
Arrangements were made with families, and our participants had a great Thursday afternoon outing with Norma and all of the great volunteers at Walk On. Horses had been such a large part of David’s and Galen’s lives that it was a delight to see them brushing, walking, and riding their equine friends again.
We will see if future visits might be on our calendar again.
